Traveling from paris to london with eurostar?
Author: Alex
I was just wondering if I choose to travel by train eurostar from paris to london should I need a passport? I am from greece and by plain I use my identity card and not a passport
thanks in advance!
I know that Greece is on the EU but on the web site of eurostar train says identity card only from citizens from France or Belgium. so i wonder if someone from the EU was used his i.card for this trip!
YOU ARE FROM GREECE AND GREECE IS MEMBER OF EU. WHY SHOULD YOU NEED A PASSPORT? I AM NEW MEMBER OF EU AND CAN TRAVEL WITH ONLY IDENTITY CARD. WHY SHOULD BE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AIR PLAIN AND EURO STAR?
Hi,
We want to go on a weekend break to Paris, any ideas where we can get cheap hotel and eurostar?
Thanks
try eurostardealsblog.co.uk they do good breaks for cheap prices
good luck.
I want to go next Sunday night and come back to London next Monday night. I am 24 so get a bit cheaper deal but the cheapest so far seems to be £118. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
You won’t find it much cheaper than that. That’s actually a pretty good deal. All travel areas are increasing their prices due to the cost of gas and the rise of vandalism/assaults from customers. Good luck!
Surely a platform is a platform? and the rail gauge must be the same, so what’s the big deal about handing over the former eurostar platforms for commuter trains to use? why would it apparently cost several million pounds?
They will be used for ordinary trains!!!!
Just that what is planned is that it will be done in a phase way. Certain older platforms will get closed down for refurbishment and when they are closed the Eurostar platforms will get used to take the trains. This will be done untill the whole of Waterloo has been refurbished and once completed ALL the Platforms will then be opened up.
The other issues that people have raised in their answers are not fully true, they do have pieces of truth in them, but platform heights & linking lines into Network Rail infrastructure are not true as the lines have always been built into our network using the standard British Signals otherwise how would the Eurostar trains pass through Catford, Hern Hill or Bromley South? It only now that Eurostar has it own designated lines with the European In cab signalling!
Something simular is happening at Kings cross where a new platform is being built. Once the new platform is completed, other older platforms will be closed and refurbished untill all the platforms have been completed.
The reason that we are doing this is so it has has less affect on the traveling public and the trains are kept running without disruption.
I hope my answer helps. Joolz
Paris for spring break 2008 with 3 kids?
Author: Alex
I am planning to take my wife and 3 kids to Paris at the end of next march. Where should we stay? Should we do the musee d’orsey? What else in Paris? If you could do a 1 or 2 day side trip, would it be to Normandy, Tours or Clermont-Ferrand? I need a website for rail service in france and car rental. Any info is helpful. Kids are 12,11,8.
Wow you asked for lot of information. I lived there a few years ago. You best bet is to search the internet, you can find anything you need. Paris has many things to see so you will need at least a week to see the most popular sights: Eiffel Tower, Notredame church, Champs Elyses and Arc D’Triumph.
Do you need to book months in advance to get a decent price?
Would you recommend it?
I would book as far from the travel date as possible for the best rate. I booked the eurostar about 3 months in advance and it only cost approx £50.
I’m planning on going to London and was thinking of taking a day trip to Paris-1st off is it worth it-and how much would it cost. thanks.
While you can do it in one day, making a day trip to Paris is not a good idea.
Leaving 5.25 from London, (you need to be at the station before 4.55,) you get to Paris 8.50.
Returning you catch the train 21.13 (20.43 at the station) to reach London 22.34, Not too bad. But it does cost quite a bit. How much depend on when you travel and whether you can change your reservation, but expect between 50 and 80 pound, can go up more for a different date.
The point is, your stay in London is already short (otherwise you would have asked about a longer stay in Paris), why spend part of it on a long boring train travel to go to a town that you can not see much of in one day.
A day trip London-Paris is something for people Living in London, and even they should go for a much longer stay.
Eurostar Deals from Ebbsfleet
Author: Alex
Ebbsfleet is the new International Eurostar station in North Kent which means you can get Eurostar Deals from Ebbsfleet to Paris and Brussels without starting from St Pancras in London. But why would you want to do that?
Why book Eurostar Deals from Ebbsfleet
Firstly it’s important to understand that there is no saving on the fares from Ebbsfleet, just because the journey is a little bit shorter. Fares to Paris and Brussels are basically exactly the same deal whether you board at London St Pancras, Ebbsfleet Internation or indeed Ashford which is half way down Kent. So no cheaper train fares.

You may find it more convenient though, if you are coming from Essex, Sussex or North Kent perhaps. By boarding at Ebbsfleet you can avoid central London and that has clear advantages if y
ou are making the first leg of your journey by car for example. If you’re arriving by train or tube then St Pancras is nearly always going to be the most convenient station.
Frequency of Eurostar trains stopping at Ebbsfleet
If you’ve decided you want to board the Eurostar train at Ebbsfleet then you’ll need to know before you even start looking for dates and eurostar deals that not all of the trains stop there. So there is a less frequent service from Ebbsfleet to Paris than from St Pancras, but there are still many per day from which to choose.
Location of Ebbsfleet Eurostar Station
Ebbsfleet International Eurostar Station is close to Dartford in north Kent, and you can get there by motorway turning off at junction TWO of the M25 London orbital. It doesn’t matter if you turn off from the clockwise or anticlockwise sides of the motorway. There are 2,500 car parking spaces within five minutes walk of the station, so driving yourself to the train is actually a valid option compared with central London, so that may be a very good reason for some people to plump for Ebbsfleet Eurostar Deals as a practical alternative.
