kenconnor2006: You …
kenconnor2006: You can see the third rail power pick-up in this video; how archaic is that?! But, the dedicated High-Speed line from Paris-Nord to St. Pancras is welded, continuous rail with wide radii, sprung reinforced concrete ties (sleepers), camber which allows continuous high-speed running, and overhead catenary! At last! I hope this bodes well for the whole British railway system!

Hi, kenconnor2006: …
Hi, kenconnor2006: Yes, UK has become the lame member when it comes to public infrastructure (that’s mostly to do with the evils of the Von Hayek-Friedman monetarist policy of privatization: this virus is now also infecting France), but with all due respect & kudos to the UK, the high-speed line is now open all the way to St. Pancras.

Good vids, …
Good vids, highlighting the fact that the french built there high speed track even before the completion of the channel tunnel and that up until a few days ago the Eurostar had to snake its way through 3rd rail to Waterloo.

The bit where it …
The bit where it speeds thru France is good but people were getting really agitated about how slow and bumpy it was between Kent and Waterloo Station, it felt like it might come to a total stop round Brixton and we would be asked to find an alternative route to complete the trip. eg, the bus.
