This looks like the beginnings of a pretty good FAQ for Eurostar Deals, and they even quote the eurostardealsblog as a source:

How to Find Eurostar Deals for London to Paris by Train

Number 3 is crucial:

Decide if you want to book a hotel and Eurostar deal or just rail tickets.

but they don’t go into any details yet about how you would decide whether to book the eurostar tickets on their own or combine it with a hotel package. I suppose that’s because it depends on individual circumstances, and how comfortable you are with making a reservation either on the spot or by making an international telephone call in advance.

The cheaper seats become available three months before departure date and sell out fairly quickly.

This is gold standard information. I’m not sure if it’s exactly three calendar months or ninety days but it’s around that time that the best eurostar deals become available for pre-booking and yes, they do sell out fast but that doesn’t mean you can’t get reasonable deals for other periods of advance booking.

You will definitely need a passport.

That’s a fair warning but not strictly true. If you are a French National travelling from the UK into France then you can do so with a French National Identity Card, but to be fair the How-To is aimed at British nationals visiting France so yes, you do need your passport. Who would think of going abroad without one? Exept to Ireland I suppose, but even then if you are boarding an internal flight you still need an official photo ID and for British nationals that’s a passport.

Good luck with the Eurostar Deals FAQ.

I was just wondering if I choose to travel by train eurostar from paris to london should I need a passport? I am from greece and by plain I use my identity card and not a passport
thanks in advance!
I know that Greece is on the EU but on the web site of eurostar train says identity card only from citizens from France or Belgium. so i wonder if someone from the EU was used his i.card for this trip!

YOU ARE FROM GREECE AND GREECE IS MEMBER OF EU. WHY SHOULD YOU NEED A PASSPORT? I AM NEW MEMBER OF EU AND CAN TRAVEL WITH ONLY IDENTITY CARD. WHY SHOULD BE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AIR PLAIN AND EURO STAR?
