Save £3 on all Eurostar Deals
When to Upgrade Eurostar Deals to Leisure Class
Record-breaking High Speed 1 run from Paris to London
01 3rd, 2010

I’m going to explain how you can save £3 per transaction on all Eurostar Deals booked over the internet.

It’s quite simple really since the Eurostar company has introduced a charge of £3 per credit card transaction for all bookings by phone, at the station or on the internet. The internet is still the most convenient and easiest way to book Eurostar deals, and sometimes cheaper, but never more costly than the other methods described. Charging for credit card use is a practice that is increasingly common with all kinds of travel companies, including airlines, someof whom charge more than the £3 and add other extras as well. They all do this because the credit card companies themselves levy a charge per transaction, which is picked up by the vendor.

EurostarDeals £3off-debitcard

The way to save £3 on Eurostar deals is to use a bank debit card instead when making the internet booking. Cards such as Maestro and Visa Debit Card come in two sorts – bank account direct debit cards and pre-paid debit cards, which are equivalent to electronic cash. By using any kind of bank debit card instead of a credit card the £3 fee is waived, reflecting the much lower costs levied by the banks for this type of payment card so you get your Eurostar deals for £3 cheaper every time.

On a prestigious international rail service like Eurostar you might assume that Leisure Select (First Class) Eurostar deals would be very expensive but in fact there are occasions when the cost conscious traveller might do well to consider going for the upgrade.

At weekends sometimes, the cost of going first class on the Eurostar may be only slightly more than second. So if you appreciate the additional comfort, leg room, and dining on the move with a three-course meal then that’s well worth considering but check the times below to see which meal you would be served with:

• Breakfast is served on all trains departing up to 11:00 with a choice of hot or continental breakfast.
• Lunch is then served on all trains between 11:00 and 14:00 with a choice of 2 main dishes
• The afternoon meal is served on all trains departing between 14:00 and 17:00 with 3 courses consisting of starter, light hot main course and pastries
• And then a three course dinner is served on all trains departing after 17:00 with a choice of 2 main dishes

Free newspapers and magazines are provided in the first class carriage, and the seats are more spacious, reclining and have generous legroom which could be a deal maker for particularly tall people with long legs that might get squashed in behind the seat in front on second class. The First Class seats also benefit from having either a slide-out table or a fixed table shared with adjacent passengers, so it’s easier to work on your laptop conducting business deals at 186 kph!
